Broadleaf Oak Plank Doors add character and rustic charm to any interior.
GRADE
Our doors are available in a choice of either our Cottage or Elegance grade French Oak. Cottage grade timber has large and small knots and more colour variation. Elegance grade timber has smaller knots and is more colour consistent.
SIZE
All of our doors are made to measure in our workshop in Wales. They can be made in any size up to 3'0 wide and 6'8" high. Taller doors can normally be accommodated on request. Cupboard doors up to 750mm x 1000mm are also available.
CONSTRUCTION
Each door is traditionally constructed from 4 - 6 planks which are fixed with 3 horizontal ledges, screwed and plugged from the rear. The planks have a classic bead and butt profile on the front and create a V-groove on the rear.
Any knots in the timber are filled as part of the construction process and each door is machine sanded. The door is then finished with a traditional double row of rosehead nails through the face into each of the ledges. These are an aesthetic detail and can be omitted to suit more contemporary interiors - please ask when you order.
Diagonal braces are not needed to stability, but can be added as an optional extra if you prefer These are left loose to be fixed in situ to follow the way the door is hung
If required, we can also make these doors stable style. In this case a fourth ledge is added to create the central rebate and 3 pairs of hinges will be needed to hang the door. They can also be made to accommodate sloping attic openings.
FIRE DOORS
Fire doors with an FD30 rating are available in this style up tto 840mm x 2085mm.
